As Summer's Higher Temps Approach, MRES Would Like To Offer Some Tips For Maintaining You Equipment.

1. Keep equipment cool: High temperatures in the western US during summer can cause engines and hydraulics to overheat, leading to costly repairs. Check and clean radiators, heat exchangers, and oil coolers regularly to prevent overheating. Use shade covers or park equipment in shaded areas to reduce exposure to direct sunlight.

2. Check and replace fluids regularly: Heat can cause fluids to break down faster, increasing the likelihood of equipment failure. Check and replace engine oil, hydraulic fluid, and coolant regularly, following the manufacturer's recommended schedule. Use fluids with the recommended viscosity and rating for your equipment.

3. Clean air filters: Dust and debris are common in the western US, especially in arid areas. Clean or replace air filters regularly to prevent them from clogging and reducing engine performance. Check the filter more often in areas with high dust levels.

4. Inspect tires and tracks: Hot temperatures can cause tires to lose pressure, leading to uneven wear and potential blowouts. Check tire pressure and tread depth regularly. For tracked equipment, check the tension and alignment of the tracks to ensure proper operation.

5. Lubricate moving parts: Heat can cause friction and wear on moving parts, leading to premature failure. Grease and lubricate all moving parts according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule. Check and adjust tension on belts and chains as needed.
